Why I’m Leaving Instagram (And Why That’s Good News for My Couples)

Less Scrolling. More Storytelling.

I’m trading Instagram for something better: more time, more focus, and more beautiful wedding films for the couples I serve.

In the wedding industry, Instagram can feel like the lifeline. It’s where vendors post their latest work, where couples scroll for inspiration or ideas, and where businesses try to keep up with the algorithm. But after years of running Will Wright Films, I’ve made a decision that may go against conventional thinking: I’m stepping away from Instagram completely.

I won’t be deleting my account, but I won’t be active here anymore. Instead, I’ll be focusing my time and energy on the things that matter most—my couples, my craft, and the platforms that truly showcase my work.

Why I Don’t Need Instagram to Run My Wedding Videography Business

The truth is, Will Wright Films hasn’t relied on Instagram to stay booked. Almost every wedding I film comes through referrals—from past couples, photographers, wedding planners, and venues. Those real-life connections are far more valuable than likes, hashtags, or algorithms.

Most of my couples aren’t finding me by scrolling through social media. The clients I serve are usually looking for luxury, documentary-style wedding videography in South Carolina and the surrounding states. They’re booking me because someone they trust recommended me, or because they intentionally searched and found my work online.

And personally? Logging in, posting, checking numbers, and chasing trends was draining. My best energy belongs to telling stories through film—not managing a social media account.

What This Means for My Couples

If you’re one of my couples (past, present, or future), this is good news. It means:

  • More focus on your film. Instead of planning posts, I’m spending that time carefully editing and crafting your story.

  • A better client experience. With fewer distractions, I can give you more attention, communication, and creativity.

  • Timeless storytelling. My wedding films aren’t driven by trends—they’re made to be watched decades from now, with the same emotional impact as the day you said “I do.”

Where You Can Still Find Me

Just because I’m leaving Instagram doesn’t mean I’m disappearing. In fact, I’m more focused than ever on making it easy for couples to see my work and get in touch:

  • 📍 www.willwrightfilms.com – My website is the best place to view my portfolio, learn about my wedding videography services, and inquire about availability.

  • 📺 youtube.com/@willwrightfilms – My YouTube channel is a living gallery of wedding highlight films, curated in the best quality possible.

Gratitude and What’s Next

I want to say thank you. To all of my past couples, and to the incredible wedding photographers, planners, and venues across Greenville, Charleston, and the Southeast who’ve sent referrals my way—you are the reason I’ve been able to build this business without relying on social media. Your trust and support mean the world to me.

Looking forward, my focus remains the same: creating timeless, cinematic wedding films in South Carolina and across the Southeast. This decision to step away from Instagram isn’t about disappearing—it’s about showing up more fully where it matters most.

Here’s to many more years of telling beautiful wedding stories.

—Will Wright
